What?

A Building Energy Rating (BER) is a numerical indicator that assesses the energy efficiency of a building. It is represented on a scale from A to G, where A denotes high energy efficiency, and G indicates lower efficiency. The rating is determined through an evaluation of various factors affecting energy performance, including insulation, heating systems, and ventilation. A BER certificate provides valuable insights into a property's energy consumption, carbon emissions, and offers recommendations for potential improvements. This information assists property buyers, sellers, and tenants in understanding the energy efficiency and environmental impact of a building.

How?

When getting a Building Energy Rating (BER) for your property, the process involves a thorough examination by certified assessors. We'll visit your home to inspect elements like insulation, heating systems, and ventilation. If you have renewable energy sources, those are considered too. We collect data and use specialized software to analyze your home's energy performance, resulting in a rating on the A to G scale. The BER certificate you receive offers insights into your property's energy efficiency, helping you make informed decisions about potential improvements and giving valuable information to potential buyers or tenants.

Which?

  1. Provisional BER : Issued when a domestic building has received planning permission, providing an estimate of its energy performance based on proposed design and specifications.

  2. Final BER : Issued upon the completion of construction or renovation of a domestic dwelling, reflecting the actual energy performance of the finished building.

  3. Existing Dwellings : Used for assessing the energy performance of already-built residential properties, taking into account their current conditions and features.

When?

  1. Selling a Property

  2. Renting a Property

  3. Applying for Grants

  4. Planning Permission

  5. Rental Accommodation Scheme (RAS)

  6. Seeking Energy Efficiency Advice
